Use OpenDNS for better speed, more security, it's free, and no more re directs.
Open System Preferences / Preferences then select the Network tab. Click the Advanced tab then click the DNS tab.
Click +
Enter these numbers exactly as you see them here.
208.67.222.222
Click +
208.67.220.220
Then click OK and restart your Mac.

Please launch the Network Utility application by entering the first few letters of its name in a Spotlight search. Select the "Lookup" tab and enter "google.com" (without the quotes) in the address field. Press return. Post the output -- the text, please, not a screenshot. Then select the "Ping" tab and do the same.
I am having the same issue. This solution did not work, nor does it explain why this issue began in the first place. I will look elsewhere.
After the same issues and much experimentation, problem solved!!! Look in your Finder menu bar and see if you have an icon for Genieo. Look in your downloads folder for the uninstall Genieo. Once I uninstalled Genieo the problem went away immediately. I am using Safari 5.1, and Snow Leopard. Not sure how it is related to esnips, but it worked.
Thanks for the clarification. I hope the OP will tell us whether your solution worked. If it does, you deserve credit for a correct answer.
That was it Genieo. What an awful product. Thank you all for the help.
I uninstalled Genieo and I still have eSnip!! 😟
