I have a Power Mac G5, Dual-core 2.3Ghz processor (not intel) running version 10.4.11. I would like to up-grade to 10.6.
I understand that if I install retailed DVD Snow Leopard (10.6), I can down load the Leopard (10.5). I am not able to install
the retailed Snow Leopard. Is it because my computer does not have the intel processor? What can I do.

You cannot install Snow Leopard on a PPC model. Snow Leopard is Intel only. If you want to upgrade to Snow Leopard then you will need to replace your G5 with an Intel Mac.

I also have a Dual 2.3 GHz PowerPC G5 and am trying to upgrade OS software from 10.4.11 to 10.5.6 but it wont seem to take it. any ideas? Wont take 10.5 eiher...but it should right?
As long as the install disc is a retail (black with big X on it) and you have a minimum of 512 MB of RAM (more is better) then there should be no problem installing Leopard.
If the instal discs are gray OEM discs, you cannot use them to install Leopard on a G5 as the OEM discs are machine specific.
I see. So i would need to buy a full 10.5 install disk and load fresh. Is that correct?

Sell your G5 and buy a Mac Pro. That is your only possible option.
Yes, you need a black, full retail OS X 10.5 install discs. No grey discs will works.
Grey discs are Mac-specific install discs and only work with Macs they originally came with.
