Scale vs genie is somewhat faster, but that's not what the OP asked. S/he asked how to eliminate all the animations when minimizing to the Dock, which as I said it's possible without hacking. S/he didn't ask about how to speed up application launching.

Lets start by getting accurate information. Your profile says that you have Mac OS X 10.4.6, but you are in the OS X 10.7 forum. Which do you have? It's important since any solution (which will involve hacks of the OS, if a solution exists) will probably be specific to certain OS X versions. I'm guessing you do have 10.7 since you say your MBP is new, but confirmation will be useful if not actually necessary.

That doesn't eliminate the animation. It only changes the type or effect.

untick 'Animate opening applications'.

That just stops the icon bouncing in the Dock when an application is launching. Again, it has no effect on the window animation.

It does indeed change the animation but the Scale animation is much faster than the Genie one. Applications launch a great deal quicker if the icon bouncing is turned off - try it with a relatively lightweight application like iCal rather than Garageband, for instance, if you doubt this or wish to verify it.

Regardless of one's level, inapplicable advice is inapplicable advice. You apparently misread the question; just about all of us do that from time to time, and when it does, someone will probably correct your response. Just accept it and move on; no need to post back with a snippy reply.

Assuming you have OS X 10.7 (Lion) open System Preferences -> Dock. Change 'Minimize windows using' from Genie effect to Scale effect, and untick 'Animate opening applications'.
