icm_services using 93-99% cpu

Hi, as title says.

Does this when I start up. I've search google and apple forums, and no mac user is reporting this problem. Google only has links to companies whose acronyms are ICM.

They show up like this in Activity Monitor:

60 icm_service root 95.9% cpu 4 threads 1.6MB real mem Intel

220 icm_service root 96%cpu 1 thread 200MB real mem Intel

Totally baffled.

For now, I just quit the services through Activity Monitor. When I do, cpu goes normal and low, and I can do everything else all day, for days, just fine. Randomly, these processes may begin again not at start-up time as well. I treat the same with same response.

Further info:

I do have these current problems on my mac, don't know if they are related:

1. My cmos battery is dieing, when I start up my date goes back to Jan 1, 2008. I'm ordering a replacement cmos battery.

2. My command + other keys shortcuts don't work anymore. My zero key rarely works. Yes, I'm ordering a usb keyboard...

I don't think those are related but just mention them in case.

Thanks in advance for any help!

Thanks to those who tried to find the answer earlier. Guess what? This is now solved!

How?

I eventually figured out these services were initiated by a program for Mac for accessing Qubee Broadband. I'd installed this quite a while ago, then switched to mostly using Qubee wifi, so something went wrong with the broadband program. For a while I just worked around it by immediately going to Activity Monitor, locating the two icm services, force quitting them, and then using my mac as usual, doing internet via the wifi.

I kept meaning to uninstall and then re-install the Qubee Broadband program, but couldn't locate it until today. It's called:

QubeeWCM_3_2_2_3(BD).dmg

I uninstalled the program, re-installed it, and now no cpu hogging at all.

So that's that. Have a great day all.
