I have tried numerous times to update my iPhone to the latest software and in the end I get the following message, "There is a problem downloading the software for iPhone. The network connection timed out. Make sure your network settings are correct and your network connection is active, or try again later." I, also, get this message when I try to restore the iPhone. Do you know how to resolve this problem? Thank you.

I'm also having this problem, also the same error message when downloading the update for iPod touch 4th gen as well.
It goes through the motions, downloads the files but right at the end gives the timed out message for both updates, very frustrating on relatively slow download speed dowloading it time and again for it to repeatedly fail :/ Any help appreciated.
I completely turned off my firewall and it did the complete download. Hope this works for you.
