    2 ways to do that.

    1. open iTunes, right-click on the playlist you wanna delete, click delete.

    2. open music player in your iPhone. open the list of playlists, slide left to right on the one you wanna delete, click delete.

    That's it.

That option doesn't always work though.  On some of my playlists, I can swipe to delete and others I can not.  I'm not sure why this issue occurs.

I've also noticed that when I delete a playlist from my primary iTunes computer, it is not reflected across all my devices like it should.  Somehow I've ended up with duplicate playlists in iCloud (My Top Rated & My Top Rated1 as an example) and I can't get rid of them which is really annoying.  Apple should allow us the option to delete from the cloud to avoid duplicates!

As late as ITunes version 10.7, you can delete the playlist from your iTunes by doing as described previously which is right clicking on the playlist and choosing delete hoping that it migrates from your "master" playlist to asssociated devices. But that's troublesome if you want to keep the playlist, you just don't want it on a particular device.  My recommendation in this case is the main menu of the device, that is clicking on the device itself and go to the main menu in the center that has options such as Summary | Info | Apps | Tones | Music | Movies etc.  What you want is the Music menu, which will amongst some other options show the Playlists that have been selected to by synced to the iPhone (or iPod) that you now have plugged into the computer.  To remove the playlist from the iPhone from this point, simply uncheck the specified playlist that you seek to remove and then click the Apply button. Voila! Playlist gone from the device!

Those using iTunes Match to stream music via iCloud can't do this. We don't sync to iTunes anymore. There should be a feature similar to Apples Calendar.app, which lets us hide or show certain playlists. This would let my wife see only here and I only see mine. Much easier to quickly get to each individuals music.
