No icons on my desktop?

Hi Everyone,

I know I've seen this function before somewhere (the option to size your desktop icons etc) ...and I'm assuming this is where I'll be able to find the ability to show desktop icons or not... but currently I can't see items that are on my desktop... can anybody please point me in the right direction?

Very much appreciated.

Kind regards

Doug

John! you rock! thanks buddy it worked :-D ...the infamous icons have returned!

So since you seem to be a great brain to pick... mind if I ask you another question? I bought an app called 'Scout file explorer' from the iStore because I wanted a tree file exploring experience. The app seems great (nice and simple) however the app is showing up all folders on my computer (see included screen shot), including what looks like hidden files (and files I as general user should never see), compared to what they reflect as screen dump via the app store.

The app developer's are not getting back to me, are you aware of a setting somewhere / some smart terminal command I can type in that will only show me sweet pertinent 'normal' finder files?

Huge thanks

Doug
