Hi,
I just upgraded my ATI Radion HD 2600 to a Nvida GeForce 8800 GT and when I powered up I get the normal sounds and here the HD working but the screens are blank. They never come off standby.
I earthed myself, connected the power cord and screwed on the plate.
I am using Snow Leaperd (latest version I am fairly sure).
Any ideas?

Install BOTH cards and use the one that works to tell you about the other one. If the 8800 is "not there" it may be defective or installed wrong. If it is there, does it see the dsiplays, and so on.

I have both cards in and I think the problem is I have one of the frst MacPro1,1. It only has i 16x slot. I installed a ATY_Init extension and now it shows up in profiler but if I plug a monitor in is does not come out of standby. I do not have PCPx starting up without complaining. If I run DiVinche Resolve the machine crashes;(.
Maybe I have the wrong ATY_Init.kext, this is the first tiem I have come across extensions.

Looks like I got the one for the 208 not 2006-2007;(. Maybe the 5770 is a better option, do they work with 2006 Macpro1,1?

Does that card require an Aux power cord?
The 5770 works in all models of Mac Pro, they just are not as fast as expected because the PCIe slots are PCIe 1.1, which is a little slower. Drivers are in 10.6.5 and later. Requires one Aux power cord.

Yes, the 8800 GT dows have a power cable.
I am thinking I will get a 5770 is it looks a lot better than the 8800 GT and I dont want to have to go through upgrading again soon.
