downsides to Format>Font>Show Fonts?

I saw in the Help file where it said to use the toolbar rather than Format>Font>Show Fonts because the toolbar only shows you the fonts on an iPad, whereas the Fonts dialog box shows you all fonts on your system. Are there other downsides?

The reason I'm asking is because if you set Small Caps in the Typography sub-dialog of Fonts, the result is significantly more beautiful than setting it under Format>Font>Capitalization. Just wondering if there are known problems with doing this... or with using the Fonts dialog box for anything else?
