Q: convert .pst to mail

I want to convert my Outlook 2010 files (emails, calendar, addresses) from my PC to my new imac.  What program is used to convert them and where do i get? then how do I drop them into my mac?  Sorry for simple questions but want to get it right the first time.

iMac (21.5-inch Mid 2011), Mac OS X (10.7.2)

The easiest method of migrating that data is using Migration Assistant. Because Outlook is a AIO program that has mail, calendar & address in it and Mac's use discrete (separate) apps (Mail, iCal & Address Book) your pst file cannot be used. Migration Assistant will pull the information out of Outlook and import it directly  in the the iMac's apps. If you have already started to use the iMac  you missed the first opportunity in Setup Assistant when it asked if you wanted to migrate from a Mac or  PC. However you can get a second chance, this will migrate all your data files. To learn more about Migration Assistant and Migration Assistant for PC I'd recommend looking over Apple's About MS Windows Migration Assistant.

I used Migration Assistant to bring over outlook data.  It said it completed properly but I still have not been able to locate the files, they are not in mail, ical or addresses.  I then converted my outlook files on my pc using 8convert, used Migration assistant again to bring over the specific file, I still can not locate on my imac.  I've looked through Finder.  What am I missing?

Migration Assistant creates a new user account, so your files are probably there. Log out of your account then you should see a new user account, log into that new user account and you should be able to find your data. You can tranfer the data from one account to the other,  Pondini has generously written a guide called Transferring files from one User Account to another..

If you still run into trouble you have 90 days of free AppleCare telephone support, give them a call and they should be able to coach you through the process. You did not complete your profile so I have no idea where you are located so please use the AppleCare Contact Info link or look in your owners manual.

Thanks for your suggestions.  I did eventually stumble across another account and found my migrated emails and imported into approriate areas.  AppleCare is great but not on a weekend (they're closed).  I have updated my profile per your comment

Glad you are on your way. I don't know what their hours are in Australia, in the US they're open M-Saturday during normal business hours.
