.xar filetypes

My father in law is moving over from PC to Mac's.However, alot of his artwork for his business are files that were created years ago and kept updated on the original program on his PC. In order to get him moved over I need to be able to find a program on an iMac that will open .XAR filetypes. Can anyone help?

As per googling:

http://filext.com/file-extension/XAR

The XAR file type is primarily associated with 'Excel' by Microsoft Corporation. AutoRecover saves all files as the current Excel file format, regardless of the original file format opened. The file is saved as a hidden file with an arbitrary filename with the extension .XAR (for example, ~ar18a.xar).

Therefore, any app capable of opening Excel files, from MS Office for mac to LibreOffice or OpenOffice.
