midi keyboard

I'm new to GB. I have a Yamaha W7 keyboard and a midi to USB interface. Computer is an i5 iMac. When I play through GB I works, unless I hold the key/s down, when it plays a seemingly random note or effect, after playing the correct note or notes. I have to note that I'm new to th W7 also, but it plays normally through it's audio output.
