Depends. Is your site just html or are you using some scripting language such as javascript, PHP, jQuery, C#, Visual Basic, CSS(2 or 3), HTML5, etc.? Editors handle different needs differently. Tell us your coding needs and we can tell you which editor can best handle those needs.
Hi Bob, my IT guys tells me its just HTML.
Sounds like you need a WYSIWYG editor.

That's a bit like asking, "Who's the best rock guitarist ever?", or, "Who is the greatest writer in the English language?"
There really is no such thing. There are a few crappy editors, and some really good ones, and people like them for various reasons. Ask ten people, you might get ten different answers.
Coda by Panic seems to be a popular choice with designers. I'm very old-fashioned, so it's BBEdit by Bare Bones all the way for me.
If you're just trying to get a basic site up, why not iWeb? Of course, you don't really get that much control, but you can add HTML manually.
I like Dreamweaver and SeaMonkey. You may want to check out Joomla if you want to get into PHP.
It seems i over simplified. I already have a website, which i need to manage content. I used contribute on my laptop, but rceently changed to a Mac. It seems there is Contribute for Mac, which i've down loaded and am trialing. thanks for the feedback though.
