Jan 22, 2012 6:10 PMby mico fox,I called Apple Support and set up an appointment for tuesday at 10 am. They said if it was the soap/liquid then my apple care 3 year warranty wouldnt cover it. But they said they will take a look at it to see what the damage was and how i can fix it. Guess I will have to wait till then.

Jan 24, 2012 11:53 AMby mico fox,I went to the apple store today, and they said they would change it out for 825 dollars. Thats ridiculous. A month ago I wanted to change my hard drive. Before I changed it I asked the genius bar if it would void my warranty, they said "It would void the warranty, ONLY on the hard drive, if you have problems that dont deal with the hard drive then the warranty will cover it." the next day I changed out the hard drive to hold more space (from 325 gb to 750 gb). Today they told me my warranty was technically void because of that. Im very angry that they would tell me one thing and another thing when it actually happened. Thats insane to pay 825 dollars for something thats worth 300. even less if I just change the keyboard itself! I usually love apple products and the service that comes with it, but this is just absurd. I've had other problems, and they took care of it with no delay. But this is not right.

Jan 24, 2012 12:06 PMby shldr2thewheel,The $825 is because you didn't follow proper cleaning instructions and used soap and water. You fried the logic board and it was your fault. Accept that. Also, changing the hard drive does not void the warranty on your mac, whoever told you that is completely wrong.

Jan 24, 2012 8:53 PMby shldr2thewheel,HelpfulI had a friend who just had her logic board replaced a few weeks ago and it was $800 USD. It is pretty much the most expensive part of the mac. Water spills in effect destroy the logic board. It is unfortunate, and I feel bad. It is probably in your best interest to sell it for parts and buy a newer used mac.
