Guide to iBooks Author Templates

I specifically want to create my own template, but can't find where to do it. How for example to create a two-column format with a vertical line between the columns?

With the abscence of a manual for iBooks author (you'd think there's be an iBook for it?), I'm stuck on something that in usual Apple style, is probably really simple...

MacBook Pro 2.53GHz 8GB, 500GB-OTHER, Mac OS X (10.6.4), iPad 16G WiFi, iBook G4, Canon 1DmkII, 1Ds, ReadyNAS NV, iPhone

As far as I have noticed it is only possible to edit an excisting template.

When youre satisfied with your new template you can go >File >Save as template

As far as I know this is the only option you have.

I coulnd't figure out how to change the chapter pages though.

-Seems it's kind of hard to replace the background image and the big numbers on each chapter page.

Any thoughts?

Cheers

The small lines can be changed by selecting them, then using 'Unlock' from the Arrange menu.

As for a multi-column layout, this is done by putting a new text box onto a blank layout page, then using the Layout pane of the Inspector (second from left) to select the number of columns you want. (Put some dummy text into the box so that you can see the columns.) Add your own choice of lines (from the Shapes menu) to separate them.

Yes I will be distributing on the app store. I used to run an Apple Tips and Tricks site called iUseApple.com and have 10 years experience in Graphic Design so not only will you get a tutorial about making templates with the app, but I am pouring all my knowledge regarding page design into the book. If it does well I will probably release a more in depth book about iBooks Author.
