Q: My iPod Touch wont back up, help?

My iPod wont back up, i connect it to my PC go onto iTunes and it says the last back up was 27/03/2011 - which is far to long ago. As yesterday it froze and i had to restore it - so i lost a lot of things! (very upsetting). So i now want to back up regularly - i right click on the device and click on Back Up, at the top of iTunes it says 'Backing Up' and the bar moves round in stripes. Then it just goes and does nothing - no error nothing! But i know it hasnt completed as it still states that the last back up was 27/03/2011. Please can you help me back up my iPod! Any helpers thank you

iPod touch, Windows 7

First, try a system reset.  It cures many ills and it's quick, easy and harmless...

Hold down the on/off switch and the Home button simultaneously until the screen blacks out or you see the Apple logo.  Ignore the "Slide to power off" text if it appears.  You will not lose any apps, data, music, movies, settings, etc.

If the Reset doesn't work, try a Restore.  Note that it's nowhere near as quick as a Reset.  Connect via cable to the computer that you use for sync.  From iTunes, select the iPad/iPod and then select the Summary tab.  Follow directions for Restore and be sure to say "yes" to the backup.  You will be warned that all data (apps, music, movies, etc.) will be erased but, as the Restore finishes, you will be asked if you wish the contents of the backup to be copied to the iPad/iPod.  Again, say "yes."

Finally, if the Restore doesn't work, let the battery drain completely.  Then recharge for at least an hour and Restore again.

I tried the reset - that didnt work. Then i've done the restore - it didnt ask me if i want to do a back up. It just went on with the restore. Then that didnt work either still cannot back up. So i uninstalled iTunes and that hasnt worked still cannot do a back up - still says last back up 27/3/2011 .. Really dont know what else to do. Thanks for your help though

Did you try moving or deleting the backups as described in the article I provided above?
