Built-in Keyboard and Trackpad not working

Hi,

My Macbook Air, OSX 10.6.8, built-in keyboard and trackpad stop working this morning.

Yesterday ieverything was working. I close the MBA without shuting down the system, but when I open it this morning the keyboard and the trackpad was not working. Now I have connected a USB Keyboard and mouse, and I am wokring whit it.

I have done some research on System Profile and I have checked that the Built-In Keyboard and Mouse does are not shown on the internel USB BRCM2070 Hub.

Some help?

I am using Macbook Pro 13" 2015 early. I had the same problem, macbook pro's built in keyboard was not working, but the power button (only the power button was working). At the beginning I thought that it was a software problem, then I deleted the whole disk(SSD) and re-installed macOS without using TimeMachine (So, I haven't installed any backup!) THAT WAS NOT WORKED!
I've sent macbook to service TWICE. Each time, they told me that "Top-case (keyboard,touch pad, battery) needs to be changed! It will cost 1700₺." I rejected it.

DON'T SEND YOUR MACBOOK TO SERVICE ! (It is just waste of time.) Instead, try those steps.

  1. Shut down your Mac.
  2. Close the screen!
  3. ROTATE your MAC.
    User uploaded file

4. And SWING it UP and DOWN ! (Shake it!)

5. Open the screen and turn on your MAC. Ta ta, it should be working.

As a Computer Science student, I don't believe that I wrote those unreasonable sentences above, but it was worked.

"Maybe" the battery presses the logic board, and that's why this solution is worked for me.

Do CMD + R after the computer starts (immediately).

Then, try using mouse and keyboard where it says "choose language"

Now. If it still doesn't work, it's hardware.

Hi Gorum, I have a MBA 13" late 2010 running 10.7.2 and the same problem as you.

It seems that a lot of people have the same problem but apple gives no attention to it.

Here is what a tried and didn't work so far:

-PRAM Reset;

-SMC Reset;

-Restoring the Permissions;

-Reinstalling OS X Lion;

-Full Reinstalation'

-Calling Apple Support. It was strange that despite the amount of people that I found with the same problem the guy on the phone said he has never heard about this problem. (I was told to take my computer to a store, but I don't have warranty anymore and I don't have apple in Brazil).

It's hard to consider this a hardware problem because the keys works for the SMC reset. It's more likely to be something wrong with the firmware, but I couldnt restore that.

I know its a blasfemy, but If I can't get this fixed soon, my next computer won't be a mac anymore...(Ubuntu is out there to save us)

Recently, this happens to me too. Suddenly, one day my keyboard and trackpad are not responding at all. Although I try PRAM and SMC reset, nothing is responding. It stuck for 2 days. I need to use the external USB keyboard and mouse to key in the password to boot into the Lion.

I feel extremely depressed, so I decide to take my Macbook air to repair. Before go to repair, I try to backup my system and attach it with the AC adapter.

But strangely, when I charge my Macbook air with AC adapter up to 85% and the machine seems to be quite hot (around 64 Degree Celsius), miracle comes!! Keyboard and trackpad are all back to response.

Could anyone tell me why?
