safari not working on my school network

safari not working on my school network

At my school i cant log onto my schools web portal using safari or firefox but i can using opera. this affects only 10.7.2 users not 10.7.1 any ideas?

macbook, ipod touch, emac, i mac, ATV2, Mac OS X (10.6.6)

Nothing was checked but thanks for the idea

This problem only occurred when I updated to 10.7.2 and only affects others using 10.7.2, 10.7.1 not affected and opera is so far the only browser I found that works. And when I finally sign into opera safari still doesn't work and I can fetch email or use the app store

Since there's a school portal involved then the school's network admin may have a proxy setup for filtering that's not working with 10.7.2.

Check with them.

And try deleting cookies...

Go to ~/Library/Cookies

Move the Cookies.plist file from the Cookies folder to the Trash.

And go to ~/Library/Caches/com.apple.Safari

Move the Cache.db file from the com.apple.Safari folder to the trash.

Quit then relaunch Safari to test.

Dan...

Open System Preferences > Network

Select the Advanced tab then the Proxies tab.

If there are any boxes selected on the left, deselect then click OK.

Quit then relaunch Safari, try logging in.
