Having trouble using Jabber software in Ichat. Cant seem to connect to my clients or my gmail account. I am on 10.5.8 I use Verizon to connect to the net.
Im works and Bonjour works. But nothing with Jabber.
Any suggestions?

You did this ?
Opened iChat
Went to the iChat Menu > Preferences > Accounts and used the Plus button.
In here you chose Google in the drop down at the top item ?
You added your Google ID exactly as it appears when you login to the Web Mail page ? (it makes a difference between @gmail.com and @googlemail.com)
You have enable Talk on your Google Account ?
If you check now, the iChat Menu > Preferences > Accounts > Server settings tab for the Google account lists talk.google.com as the server and is using SSL and therefore port 5223 ?
You have added Google Buddies with the "right suffix" to their IDs in the list ?

My ichat was working fine, however, I was notified that I needed to update my computer this weekend (Macbook) which I did. Mac OS X version 10.6.8
My login which is an account through Google. Now when I try to log in to my ichat account I get a message saying ichat cannot communicate with Jabber account ......

So it is not a Google Mail ID ending in @gmail.com or @googlemail.com
It is my understanding that only Google Mail accounts can be used as GoogleTalk IDs.
I am not aware that others can still be used as Jabber IDs.
In iChat > Preferences > Accounts > the jabber account in question go to the Server Settings tab.
Does this read that the server is moolala.com ?
You could try changing it to talk.google.com
