Bypass Passcode for iPad

My dad recently bought me a used iPad but he forgot the passcode. I originally attempted to sync the iPad to my iTunes on my mac but I got a error message that says: "iTunes could not connect the iPad "SAlterio's iPad" because it is locked with a passcode. You must enter your passcode on the iPad before it can be used with iTunes." I then tried to put the iPad into DFU mode and tried to restore through iTunes but I received another error message saying something along the lines of that the iPad was not eligible to be restored. What can I do?

Thanks!

I updated by iTunes and I got the following message after I attepted to restore the iPad:

iTunes could not connect to the iPad “name" because it is locked with a passcode. You must enter your passcode on the iPad before it can be used with iTunes.

I don't have the passcode and I don't have the computer that the iPad was originally synced with. Is there anything else I can do?

You should still be able to restore the iPad to unlock it, but you will lose all of your content. This article describes how to do go through recovery mode.

You just got the iPad, and it was used previously by someone else, so I assume that you put no content on it anyway. Really, you have no choice anyway, that is - if you want to unlock the device and be able to use it again.
