Q: how do i start a disc that does not start automatically?

If you don't have an Apple router then the software is for Windows, not a Mac. If you see a file with a .exe on the end, that's a Windows program.

Read the information on the box or on the disc label or in the accompanying printed material, if any. If it doesn't say anything specifically about Mac OS X, then no Mac software is supplied. That's very likely the case here, because it sounds like there is no Mac partition on the disc.

Go to the manufacturer's support site and check what is available for your particular router. You may be able to download Mac software for it, or you may be able to use the router w/o installing any additional software.
