apple care

I live in mcallen tx zipcode 78504. I am planning on buying an iphone in a couple of days and want to know if I get applecare and my phone needs to be serviced where would I take it to get looked at? If there anything close by to where I live or do i have to mail it off leaving me without a phone?

There really isn't an Apple Store anywhere near you. The closest appears to be in San Antonio, unless I've missed one, obviously not a short drive. So you'll need to use Apple's mail-in service if you ever need the iPhone looked at.


Neither AT&T nor Verizon provide service on the iPhone. Unless things have changed very recently, they refer all service issues to Apple.

You can get Express Replacement Service, available for $29 US, and Apple will send you a replacement iPhone after which you then send your defective one to them. For more information, see:

Or you can get an inexpensive GSM phone and just move your SIM to it to use for voice calls while you're waiting for the replacement iPhone. You may want to do this to have a backup even if you think you'd opt for Express Service.
