Unable to purchase.

I start having this problem since last Friday. When i go into an App Store on my iPhone 4s and try to download any app I get this error message; "unable to purchase. "Hanging With Friends" and other items could not be purchased at this time. Please try again later". First of all, I already have Hanging installed in my phone. So I click OK,the error messages goes away, and then I asked to put in my password and the phone would start download the app that i wanted to get. Along with that few other apps that i previously owned pop up on my screen with "waiting" status. ones i touch any of them, they go away. after that i can download apps fine for some time but after awhile i get this weird problem again. any suggestions?

Add me to the list of people that have had this problem... I have it on my iPhone 4s, but not my original iPad, yet. Getting ready to set-up my iPad 3 here in about 10 minutes, so we'll see how long it takes for it to pop up there too! lol.

I've been following this thread for about a month now. I've tried all of the non-iExplorer fixes that people have mentioned on here and nothing has worked. I'm tempted to try the iExplorer fix, but I'm concerned about the issue with the notification badge not updating until you launch the App Store and click on "Updates" to refresh. Has anyone tried the fix and had their notification badge still auto-update?

Thanks to everyone who has posted advice along the way!

I was having App-store badge issues long before iExplorer. But honestly, how difficult is it to press the App Store app icon on your screen to get an updated number? A small price to pay (should this even be connected to iExplorer) considering the problems that this thread is addressing.

The "unable to purchase..." pop-up was not only annoying, but it seemed to slow down my entire phone. Much better now.

@jdriel: Like @Claidheamdanns and @TheSupremes have said too, I also have not seen the App Store report update numbers other than when I go into the app and into the Update tab. This is also true with the Mac App Store. It also doesn't show updates unless I click on the updates tab.

I did the iExplorer fix a couple of days ago and both my devices have been functioning pretty much perfectly. Like they did when I first got them.

So if you are on the fence for doing the fix, I would say you should go ahead and do it. So long as you don't delete the Manifest file you are going to be fine. If you are worried, just delete the 'downloads.28.sqlitedb' file.

I just want to reiterate that, as per my posts above, my problem was solved when I followed PLATNUMK's procedure which did NOT use iExplorer. In addition, the problem with the APP BADGES still occured afterwards (I think I was the first to report it here as a matter of fact), even though I did not use iExplorer.

FYI, with the new operating system the badge works if the number of apps needing updates is high (ex., 7 or more). If it is lower then that, and I open the app, the update button on the lower right WILL show the number of apps needing an update. Then, if I go back to the home screen, the badge is there next to the APP STORE icon.

When using the gleff.com fix. You will solve the problem, but leave all the bad files behind. They are not huge, but if you have to do this several times of the life of your device, those megabytes will add up.

I would suggest deleting the 'downloads.28.sqlitedb' file after a couple of days if you feel the problem has gone away. I would also suggest deleting all the folders in the Downloads folder as well.

I deleted all those folders. I had quite a few folders in the Downloads folder. I looked into what they were and found they contained data about apps I had already downloaded. Deleting those folders changed nothing about the fix and I recovered close to 500MB's of storage.

Just something to consider if you are going to follow the procedure that the blog www.blog.gleff.com has put up.
