Unable to purchase.

I start having this problem since last Friday. When i go into an App Store on my iPhone 4s and try to download any app I get this error message; "unable to purchase. "Hanging With Friends" and other items could not be purchased at this time. Please try again later". First of all, I already have Hanging installed in my phone. So I click OK,the error messages goes away, and then I asked to put in my password and the phone would start download the app that i wanted to get. Along with that few other apps that i previously owned pop up on my screen with "waiting" status. ones i touch any of them, they go away. after that i can download apps fine for some time but after awhile i get this weird problem again. any suggestions?

Today is 5 days since I used PlatnumK's procedure and still have NOT seen the error message, so that's the one I vote for. Today I reinstalled the app (from the Cloud) that was in every error message. I will report back if the error message re-appears (and even if it doesn't).

What I am not able to fix is the way the App Store app is working SINCE. I posted above and also started a new discussion. Does anyone know what to do if an app that comes with the iOS 5 stops working right? Thanks,

I just had my first update all in a long time that didn't put up this message. I had done a bunch of steps the other day so I don't know which if any of these fixed it. I did all of this on my iPad 2 which was having the problem:

1. Went into setting -> store and clicked my Apple ID and updated my payment info (just confirmed my credit card CDV).

2. Logged out of my iTunes account from settings -> store

3. Turned off iPad.

4. Turned on iPad.

5. Went into settings -> store and signed in.

6. Turned on automatic app downloads and okayed the confirmation message.

7. Turned off automated app downloads - I don't like them on.

That was it. Today when I updated, instead of getting that error message before the password prompt showed up, I never got the error. I guess I'll see how long it lasts.

It's been 4 days since I did the steps above and I've done a number of "Update Alls" and haven't had the "unable to purchase X and y more" message since then. I think it's safe to say the above fixed it. Best thing is it didn't involve doing a backup and restore.

I tried everything as mentioned in this topic and no any thing works.

The best thing I can do is setting restriction to ask to input password before downloading any app ( this make the error don't show up) But when I disable restriction the errors pop up again soon:(

I'll mention that my "and 5 others" message has remained the same for a while, so the counts not going up. That's not fixing the problem though.

My guess is that any action which updates your iTunes account on your deivce will fix it temporarily, but not permantly since the problem is apparently account related. There's some indicator on the account that the x apps should download, but the device doesn't think they should or something like that.

By reading most of users reports, I would say it has something to do with iTunes sync.

Most users have got the error back after syncing with iTunes.

Maybe you should try and do something like this:

1. Click the option "Reset all warnings for buying and downloading" in your iTunes account settings

2. Logout from the iTunes account

3. Login in your iTunes account

4. Sync your iDevice with iTunes

5. Unplug and pray! 🙂

After doing the steps I posted earlier in this thread, the error have never come back, just to refresh on what I did, I deleted the app named in the error message from my device and from iTunes, connected my device to my computer with the USB cable, did a backup, then did a full restore from backup, re-downloaded the app from the app store, re-synced with computer. Since then the error has never returned. To test I have downloaded apps, deleted apps, synced via cable, synced via wi-fi.

As the error only showed up on my iPad and not on my iPhone, I believe that it must have been some sort of data that got corrupted at the time the app was downloaded.

deleting the app will not work in my case. my issue started when i attempted to download a free for a day app in an airport. naturally, the time came for me to leave via my flight before the download was finished. afer i landed and used the ipad again... the error appeared from my original post in this thread. now, i do not own that app that it always names, and i am not going to pay 3.99 for it just to see if deleting it will fix my "can not download this app and XXXX others at this time error"...

i have tried all the reset warnings... i have tried syncing... i have tried everything short of a restore (unacceptable solution)...

this is an issue with apple servers and needs to be addressed by apple immediately. what was once a flawless shopping experience (the app store) has become a nightmare of inconvenience and horrible EXPERIENCE.

thanks,

d

I agree, I also think the trick is in deleting the app from both the computer and the device.

I did the same, WITHOUT doing the backup and restore, and it seems to have worked.

I dreaded the thought of doing the full restore like that, so I thought I'd see if it'd work without doing that first, and it did. Thank you PlatnumK for putting us all on the right track! Kudos to you.
