Jan 24, 2012 2:07 PM in response to Strongdad03by paulcb,Is your specific 8600 model listed on the HP compatibility list?... there are three 8600's listed.

Jan 24, 2012 2:08 PM in response to Strongdad03by pvonk,You haven't really told us if the printer is on the list of airprint HP printers. You mentioned the 8600, but there are a number of submodels listed. Are you saying your printer submodel is on the compatible list? If not, it won't work.
If it is, another problem may be your router. It must be Bonjour compatible - is it? What kind/model of router is it. Just because a mac and Dell can print wirelessly doesn't mean the iDevices will, there are other factors involves, such as Bonjour.

Jan 24, 2012 2:25 PM in response to pvonkby Strongdad03,Talked with comcast regarding the router and they said it was compatible with Bonjour Packets. They is use a gateway called ARRIS TG852.

Feb 18, 2012 6:42 PM in response to Strongdad03by Sago123,I am having the same problem getting AirPrint to work with an HP Officeject 8600 pro plus and a Comcast supplied Arris TG 852 Router. When I try to print an any of my IPhones or IPads I receive "AirPrint Printr not found". Has anyone had any luck getting this to work?

Feb 18, 2012 6:56 PM in response to Sago123by deggie,Sounds like, despite Comcast claim to the contrary, there is a problem with their router. Check the website for the router and see if there are any firmware updates available. If so, update the router. Same thing goes for the printer, use the front panel and check for a firmware update and install if necessary.
If no updates are available for either shut down all devices then restart your computer, router, printer (and make sure the printer has connected to the network), then the iDevice. Now see if you can see the printer.

Feb 19, 2012 1:56 PM in response to deggieby Sago123,Printer has the latest firmware. Router Firmware is only available to Comcast. I have reset, powered off each device and have had no luck. The router vendor, Arris, only provides info/firmware updates to the cable providers (Comcast).
I am wondering if the original poster has had any luck getting it to work. I may try a separate wireless router tomorrow.

Feb 20, 2012 7:23 AM in response to Sago123by Sago123,Update on problem. It definitely appears to be the Comcast/Arris Tg852 Router. I inserted an old Netgear Wireless Router in the network and attached my IPhone/IPad devices and the HP8600 Printer to the Netgear wireless SSID. instantly all worked. the IPhones/IPads can access the network and print to the HP Printer as an AirPrint device. This is not exactly the configuration that I wanted. I got the combination wiless gateway/router from Comcast so I would not have to have multiple devices to attach to the Internet. But at least it works now. As an additional benefit. I had one IPhone 33GS. it would not attach to the Interrnet on the TG852. It worked on oth wireless networks, but would not work at home. It is working now as well with the old router. The only thing I could figure on that problem was the TG852 is supposed to support 802.11 B,N & G but was only allowing my devices that support N to attach. The IPhone 3GS does not support N, but my other devices do. The old router is 802.11g.

Feb 20, 2012 7:59 AM in response to Sago123by Lawrence Finch,A couple of things to check:
Airprint uses the Bonjour service. The Comcast router may be blocking the Bonjour ports.
5297 TCP - - - iChat (local traffic), Bonjour 5298 TCP/UDP - - - iChat (local traffic), Bonjour 5353 UDP Multicast DNS (MDNS) 3927 mdns Bonjour (mDNSResponder), AirPlay, Home Sharing, Printer Discovery You can try enabling these ports in the router settings
Also, is MAC filtering enabled on the router? If so you need to add the printer's MAC (WiFi) address to the "allowed" table in the router.

Feb 20, 2012 2:25 PM in response to Lawrence Finchby Sago123,Thanks, MAC Filtering is not enabled. The Printer works fine as a standard wireless printer. just not as an AirPrint Printer. Router settings are not available to ensure that Ports like 5353 are open. The Comcast Signature Support Guy had no additional settings to try. they also don't have access to Firmware updates from the Router vendor (strange). Comcast is shipping me a new Router Gateway. Don't think this will help much, but I am willing to try.

Feb 20, 2012 2:33 PM in response to Sago123by Lawrence Finch,The iPhone uses Bonjour; the computers do not use Bonjour to connect to the printer. That is why the printer works with computers and not with the iPhone. Most routers have a page to enable specific ports; you are sure yours does not?
