You can't connect it by cable if that is what you want to do. If you have one of the models that support AirPrint then you can use that. If it's not one of those then some manufacturers have their own app in the app store, and there are also third-party apps such as Print Central For iPad and Print n Share that work with some printers.
it depends on which printer you have.
I purchased an Epson XP-400 wi-fi printer, scanner etc.
