I tried to put it on recovery mode but it doesnt work either. Before that, I tried to reset it using the reset options in the settings. Please reply as soon as possible

Have you tried the reset? The screen should shut off for a moment, then the Apple logo should reappear.
I tried it before I asked u and It does not work at all. It just keeps coming up the apple logo, stay there for a while, then turn off and on, and keep doing like that
I would try a reset by holding both the sleep/wake button and the home button for a couple secs until the device restarts itself.
Only one thing left to do: Let the battery drain completely, then try charging it up and see if it will turn on. If it does not, then visit an Apple store or Apple authorized repair service.
do you have any suggestions on draining the battery faster?
If you can't turn on the device completely, then there is nothing you can do to drain it faster. If you were able to access it, you could turn the brightness the whole way up, turn everything on and open a whole bunch of apps, then leave an app open and running.
But since you can't turn on the device, all you can do is wait.

I have the same problem too It said I need to upgrade it so I did and now my Ipod keeps turning on and off by its self what do i do? do i keep it plugged in i tried shutting it off but it still turned back on the apple is flashing
Hold the home button and the on/off/sleep button for at least 20 seconds. You will probably see it turn on and off one or two times. But, eventually you will put it in recovery mode (shows a USB cable connection and an Itunes logo. Connect to Itunes. It will take a minute, but it will come back and tell you the Ipod is in recovery mode. You can then do a restore at that point. It will lose all its data, but you can recover and get the Ipod back to life.
The key is holding those buttons a long time (not 10 seconds - but much longer).
