how to eject usb safely from macbook pro

I am a rookie to the MacWorld and loving it!!!!!

I am recording music using a Line 6 ux1 interface and a Snowball microphone...and have so far been using them successfully. However, neither of these items show up on my desktop or in the sidebar....therefore I am unsure of how to eject them properly. I really do not want to pull them out of the hub in case of damage to either the mac or the product. I have checked off the external devices in both the finder desktop menu and sidebar menu. Please help....both are recognized in the hardware section of the HD but it does not give me any option to see an eject button.

Should I just keep removing the devices after shutting down the computer? Thank you in advance for any help or suggestions...

Hi Sue,

In general, if a peripheral needs to be "ejected," the icon will show up on the desktop and/or in the sidebar. Ejecting it involves clicking on the icon and dragging it to the trash.

I do not have either of the products in question, but I have other microphones and I can simply unplug them.
