how to change a picture from JPG to img?

How can I change a picture from being JPG to another such as img?

img is not an actual format. However, if you select the photo in iPhoto and go to the file menu and choose export. In the format pull down there are a few options to choose from. If you have the app store instaled there are also several image converters you can download from there.

The .img is a CD or DVD image file, not an image file format. donnhy's post explains what image formats are available in iPhoto.

There is one image format that iPhoto cannot convert a photo to. That's .png. If you go to MacUpdate.com and do a search for "image convert" you'll get a list of potential candidates.
