Syncing two iPhones in one iTunes

I have bought a new iPhone4 and my son is getting the old iPhone 3S. How can I sync them on one computer and one iTunes??

I have tried to make different accounts - doesn't work. iTunes always choses one of us and tells us that he will delete everything on the other one.

I have tried to create a new library, but it's the same there too.

Please, I need some qualified information!

Thanks, but I've tried two of the three alternativies, mentioned in Apples guidelines...

With separate accounts; I will automaticly be logged in as me, no mather which iPhone I connect - and even if we are not logged in, when we connect the device?

With separete Librarys, I only can find one library - the other one will not be seen, and iTunes informes me that everything will be erased on the the other device, when it is connected?

I've got PC, so please, if you have more details...

You can get free Telephone Technical Support from Apple, if I'm not mistaken for 90 days since the purchase.

Enter the iPhone Serial Number here: https://selfsolve.apple.com/agreementWarrantyDynamic.do and you'll see if you are eligible for complimentary telephone technical support.

We have used it just a couple days ago with a different iPhone problem In less than a minute after leaving our home phone number we received a call from Apple Support. And yes, their advice solved our problem.

As a matter of fact, I have very similar question you're asking - whether I can back up and sync my iPod touch and my wife's iPhone 4S (two different Apple IDs) on the same computer. I just didn't have a chance to contact Apple Support and ask them about that.

Connecting to a new iTunes or computer account will erase all content. But you can save you data and settings by performing a manual backup. Make sure autosync is disabled in iTunes/Edit/Preferences/Devices.

Right click on the phone in the device list and choose Backup. A backup will be made without syncing the phone.

Transfer your purchases the same way, to copz all apps and other bought media to the new library.

Make sure at least one contact and even is listed on the computer account, to be albe to merge data during the first sync. Your device will be erased during the setup and first sync, butr you can use the manual backup to restore your info and other data. Make sure to use the same iTunes account, if you wish to use the same apps again, bought media and apps can only be used with the same iTunes account again.

That makes little sense unless you have very limited understanding of using Windows on a PC. You set up separate user accounts in Windows on the PC. You log into your account when you wish to use the computer and when you wish to connect your iOS device for syncing and your son logs into his user account on the PC when he wants to do the same.

1. I don't want to use different Windows accounts.

2. Method Three here http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1495?viewlocale=en_US explains clearly how to create and use two different iTunes Libraries, in my case one Library for iPhone, the other one for iPod touch.

3. Backing up of (new) iPhone will create a file that is separate from the iPod's back up file and it's easy to recognize it in case there is a need to restore iPhone or iPod.

4. I can transfer all purchases from iPod or iPhone to iTunes, after iTunes is started with the appropriate Library for each device (by pressing Shift-Key before starting iTunes and selecting the Library). All the purchased apps will appear in their respective iTunes Library.

5. If I want to sync iPhone ONLY for apps (I don't want to sync iPhone Contacts, Calendars, Music....), I believe that syncing iPhone's apps will not erase anything from iPod touch or iPhone. Neither it will rearange the appearance of the apps on the iPod or iPhone Home screen. BUT I am NOT sure about this point.

6. If I want to add Music, Media, Podcasts, etc. - I can do it manually for both iPod touch and iPhone from their Library.
