This is quite an old thread now, but I thought I should say that the methods described earlier, of placing a string for a group

in the address book, can no longer be used due to changes introduced in iOS 9, (Mail now rejects multiple addresses added from a contact). Currently you will need to use an app, (such as our MailShot Pro) to do this.

In response to those iOS9 changes, we added new methods to send group email, forward email to a group from Mail, or share a document directly

from Photos or Files to a group.

There are a number of apps that can send email to groups from inside their own emailing App.

However our own "MailShot Pro" takes a different approach, and creates and manages special contacts for each group that you can use from most of your favourite apps including Mail, Maps, Photos etc. like it was a built-in feature.

its also the only way to forward mail to a group, including all original attachments, and the only way to send group email from Siri.

I just want to say that the developers really missed on this one. I love my iPad and do most of my Day to day work on it. To not be able to send emails to group that I do business with is a big miss on apples part. I know that I can use a third party software. But why should I when that could have simply been an added function? Please consider how important of an item this function is and make it right. Thanks

It's a comma (or semicolon) rather than a decimal point, if you're doing it manually, but that method does work across iPhone, iPad and iPod touch.

This is actually close to how our "MailShot" app works (unlike most other group email apps) except that MailShot manages the groups for you and makes it easier to delete and add contacts to your groups.

If your groups are small you can try our free version on

There's an upgrade path to the full version if you like it in that app. or you can go straight to the Pro version:

I read everyone's questions and answers about how to create a group on my iPad email....cant' believe this huge need slipped through the cracks.....no suggestions that I read seemed to be what I wanted to do.....

I ended up taking the time on my iMac to copy and paste the 45 email addresses, one at a time, separated by a comma, into a Word document. Then I attached it to an email to myself.

I opened up the email in my iPad, opened the Word document and saved it as a Pages document. Now, when I want to forward or send an email to the group, from my iPad, I open the document, copy the whole list of email addresses, and paste it into the To section of my email.....no limit to the number of addresses....

It only takes the time to do it once, and makes it fast when I need all those addresses to send or forward a group email without going to the unknown area of a third party. Works for me.
