i have the same problem: i upgraded my iphone 4 to ios 6.2.1 and i get the message "sim locked". i tried to follow the directions here: http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1316
but it does not work from the start: i go in Settings<Phone<No SIM but the option is not active (if i touch it, nothing happens). the same for General<Mobile data<No SIM
please help!
The SIM is locked? Or the phone is now re-locked to a carrier after updating? If the phone was hacked or jailbroken, updating will re-lock the phone to the original carrier. ONLY the carrier can authorize unlocking it.
Carrier = 3 ( Austria )
iPhone 4
I got this Iphone today, and i put in the sim card - everything is ok!
i was calling my friends because of my new number and than i got a massage: A new update is available iOS 5.0.1 and i agreed. after download my sim card was locked... :/
Sounds like your phone's sim had a sim pin...some carriers require such by default. If that's the case, and you don't know the sim pin, you'll have to contact your carrier to get a PUK code to unlock your sim. If you enter the wrong sim pin too many times, it will permanently render the sim unusable.
I have the same issue; clean Iphone 4s (never jailbreaked or anything). I did the latest IOS update last week through wifi on holiday in Morocco. Now back in the Netherlands the phone is locked and doesn't accept the sim code. My wife's 4s has exactly the same issue! Did a reset (holding pause&power button for 20 secs, no improvement. Just went to the T-Mobile shop with a new sim card and still doesn't work.
I read in a thread that a trick is to de-activate wifi, but can't come further than language and country setting, now it returns to "enter pin" screen. I have a backup from just before my holiday, but hwo to get that status back?
Help.
Give more details.
Carrier =?
Which iPhone 3g/3gs/4/4s?
What country was the phone purchased from?
How was this device originally unlocked?

Thanks i´ve got it 🙂
You're welcome.
LOL @ T-Mobile
Went to mac store with my 2 locked phones. They confirmed an unusual phone error (even their sim didn't work so not an T-mobile issue). They serviced me with 2 new phones.
