ibook author application processing time

I submitted an iBook for e-publishing a few days ago and have no idea as to the progress of the application. How long should this take? I have tried to log onto iTunes Connect but the screen says that my id is not authorized.

iMac, Mac OS X (10.5.4)

Using Safar/Mac - use Safari's 'Empty Cache...' menu, confirm you're logged out and try again.

Confirm you are using the correct ID/log on for iBooks/iTunes Connect.

Check the store by using Search to see if it is already available. The backend is very busy right now 🙂

Hi. Finally got the approval and am in the delivery stage - but a big HOWEVER - I can't get the program to accept any of the copies of the publication piece I have. I can't upload the iBooks Author version that I created and saved (the only edited version for iPad that I have). Any suggestions? I am obviously not doing something.

Also - they are asking for a "preview" version and I understand that it is a few pages of the book, but do I create that version in iBook Author or just from a PDF version of it. Because it needs to be uploaded, I will probably have the same trouble I am having uploading the full book.

Help! You are being very nice to assist - sorry to be a bother.

In regard to the delivery problem, make sure that you have the latest version of iTunes Producer installed. I had an older version and while I could upload my book, I couldn't upload my preview. Downloading the new version fixed that problem. Are you getting any error messages when you try to upload? Are you hitting publish in iBooks Author so that it automatically opens iTunes Producer for you? It's hard to know exactly what is causing the issue without a little more information.

For the preview, when you have your book open in iBooks Author, go to the File Menu and select duplicate. This will create a duplicate copy of your book. You may want to rename it. On the second copy, decide what pages you want to include in the preview/sample book, and delete all the other pages. Once you've saved the shorter version, go to the file menu and select export. This will bring up a window, where you should make sure you've clicked on iBooks for the export type. Then it will ask you to name and save it.

Once you've done that, open the iTunes Producer file with all your book information, and find the box for the preview version and then navigate to the new file and add that. Then when you upload your book, it should include both the full book and the preview version.

I have been working with an Apple aggregator, Lulu, to submit my eBook to the iBookstore.

I am launching my second book now, and my first was six months ago - in August. The approval time for books has slowed considerably.

Lulu's own site shows that my book is "Listed" with the iBookstore, but it isn't.

The delay is frustrating, for a couple of reasons

- there is no way of tracking progress

- there is no indication of how long it might take

- In comparison, Amazon (for all that it is has its drawbacks) allows me to upload a document and it is live on their site within 4-12 hours.

Lulu can't tell me where my book is at, and says it is up to Apple, which isn't answering.

This is one of the rare instances where Apple's processes are more cumbersome, opaque and inefficient.

I made a second submission via another apple account, this time for a paid ibooks account rather than for publishing free ibooks. The paid account was authorized within two days.

I had also sent a complaint about the other account to ibookstore@apple.com. This was followed up with a notice that it was approved and an email would be "resent". So I'm back on track with the publishing tools.

Hi all, just letting you know I uploaded my book "Career Management: Access the Hidden Job Market" to iBooks about 2 weeks ago. I didn't hear anything for over a week so I sent a message through the "contact" area on iTunes connect. I received the following message and then my book went live on the bookshop the next day. Good luck! Hello Shireen, Thanks for taking the time to write to me regarding your book, "Career Management: Access the Hidden Job Market" and its review status in the iBook Store. I'd like to apologize for our long response times, as we are experiencing a high volume of requests. Your title is still under review. We're experiencing a high volume of requests and appreciate your patience as your book makes its way through this process. If no errors are identified during the review process, your book will be made available for sale in the iBooks Store within 24 hours of the completion of the review, if the sales date has already passed. Otherwise, your book will go live on the scheduled release date. Please continue to monitor the status of your book in the Manage Your Books module of iTunes Connect. I hope that this information is helpful to you Shireen. If you have any further questions for me, please don't hesitate to reply to this email, submit a request via the Contact Us Module within iTunes Connect, or give me a call and we'll be happy to assist you. Regards, Jeremy iTunes Provider Support
