I was overseas and was using my phone as my camera when it crashed and I cannot restart it. It needs to do a restore but I am desperate to save my photos. I can access my contacts etc from the cloud but not my photos. Please help, thanks

if your phone has crashed the data is most likely corrupt anyway and your photos are lost.  This is why it is strongly recommended to upload your photos to your computer as soon as possible.

Unfortunately, there's nothing you can do. You're going to have to restore.  Perhaps some of your photos were present on your last backup.  Restoring from that last backup can perhaps get some of your photos back.

    Thanks gdgmacguy,

I restored my phone and just like magic my photos appeared in my photostream! Now for the bit that I'm stuck on. I can't import them onto my mac (running Mac OS X Version 10.6.8). I think that I need to update my software to access icloud. Can you please let me know what I need to update it to and whether this can be done via the App Store?
