How do you completely remove red sharpie from the cover?

How do you completely remove red sharpie from the cover? My 18 mo old daughter went to town on it, top and bottom. I got most of it off with alcohol, but there's still a hint of it showing and I hate that!! It's a gorgeous computer that has permanent marker stains on it!

Ive used the Mr Clean Magic Eraser on my MacBook and it doesnt hurt anything. It works REALLY well removing the oils and grime from the keyboard and trackpad. Ive used it on EVERY part of my Air, except the screen. Its not going to hurt the aluminum or the plastics. It will probably take that marker right off without any issues. Just make sure, if you use it on the keyboard area, that you wring it out THOROUGHLY before you put it near the keyboard. Wouldnt want any of the water leaking out and getting into the keys. I dont think you have to worry as much when you are just using it on the outside cover.

I understand that it's permanent. As I've already said, though, I've been able to get almost all of it off. There's still just a hint of it still on the cover if you turn it a certain way you can see it. I wasn't sure if someone knew of a particular chemical/substance that would break it up the rest of the way. You know, like Martha Stewart does with all her stains on laundry. If it's a certain stain, then there's a certain thing that'll take it off.

Just a shot in the dark.

A cotton terrycloth towel slightly dampened with acetone should do the trick. Be very careful that you do not get ANY on the illuminated plastic apple emblem.

There is nothing non-polar solvent soluble about the anodize on the aluminum. There is no "finish" that would be affected. The only time some solvents may affect the anodize, is if it is a dyed anodize. Fortunately, Apple doesn't color their MacBooks.

i like the previous suggestions::

like acetone

rubbing alchohol

im kind of skiddish about mr clean magic eraser tho..

but from previous expierence (spray paint on my truck), i would suggest automotive rubbing compound but i am really worried it might be too abrasive, but i think rubbing compound would be less abrsasive then the mr clean magic eraser.

of course i wouldn't reccomend rubbing compound or the magic eraser on plastic, but if its aluminum unibody it might be okay..

maybe you can try a little bit of rubbing compound as an expierment.

Did Mr. Clean Magic Eraser work?

And I'd recommend you take away all sharpies from your daughter 😉 There are all kinds of iPad programs where she can draw with her fingers to her hearts content and never leave a real mark behind 🙂
