syncing not enough space

Hi,

Starting about 2 days ago my iPhone 4 will no longer sync with iTunes for Mac running Lion with latest software updates. My iPhone shows 2.5gb free and iTunes shows 3.2gb free but when I try to sync it tells me that I need an additional 2gb to sync. Any idea what the problem could be? My only guess is I have 700 photos in Photo Stream, but I don't know if this makes a difference. Anyways, I would expect this would be accounted for in the free space figure on my iPhone. Any thoughts would be much appreciated thanks!

The 2.5gb is the free space on my iPhone when I check on the actual phone. In iTunes it tells me I have 3.2gb free space. But when I try to sync that's when it tells me I need an additional 2gb of free space to sync. I have not added anything significant for my sync, and even if it did it would make my free space in iTunes go down right? I can try disabling photo stream and see if that makes a difference. With photo stream is the iPhone actually storing all of those photos on the phone like what's in camera roll?

Well...I removed photo stream and my music and synced it fine. Then I put back half of my music and photo stream and it synced fine again. Now the free space on my phone shows 3.4gb and in iTunes 3.5gb so it's much closer and hopefully it's ok now. Side note...the Other category in iTunes is 1.2gb (same as on my iPad) and I'm not sure if this is ok or not? Seen a bunch of Other category threads here...

That's the thing I'm looking in iTunes and it tells me I have 7gb free. And I have not added anything since last sync which was 2 days ago. So except for minimal changes due to a new app version everything is the same. And updating is live in iTunes right? I just tested by selecting a 1gb video file and it dropped my free from 7 to 6gb. So even if I did select something unknowingly it should be revealed in iTunes right? This is the same issue I had with my iPhone previously which also made no sense. I just deleted/resynced a bunch of stuff and it worked but I was hoping to find a real solution this time. Thanks,
