My MacMail 3.6 is very slow to low. Maybe because there are so many unfiled emails? Can I mass delete? Also, is there a way to "de-frag" the computer to speed it up?

If you want to get rid of all your e-mails you can press cmd+A to select them all and delete them in one fell swoop. De-fragging is a Windows thing. OS X does not need de-fragging.
Generally defragmenting the disk has minimal if any impact on the performance to a Mac.
A much important indication for poor performance on a Mac is low free disk space. How space do you have on your Mac?
Also how much RAM do you have?
Is there a reason you are so far behind on the version of operating system you are using? You are two or three years behind on the operating system you are running.
