It depends.
If you are using Time Machine to backup to Time Capsule, which is most likely, then it is not a mirror image of the disk in your computer. Time Machine does not work that way. It can restore you Mac.

TC is a Time Capsule, a combination router and hard drive.
Time Machine is the application that copies everything on your Mac to the Time Capsule.
If the Mac's hard drive fails, you can have a new hard drive installed and use your Time Machine backup to restore your Mac to look exactly the same as it did before the hard drive failed.
So basically we would have to reload each program. Thats what I was trying to avoid.
Any solutions that do this for Mac? Carbonite has something- Home Plus but only for PC's.

No, you would choose the option to completely restore the Mac from your Time Machine backup. Time Machine will copy your entire system back to your "new" Mac and everything will look exactly the same as before.
You might want to keep Time Machine 101 handy if you are interested in a Time Capsule.
Thank you, Bob. I was just coming back to provide the answer you provided. The pit stop seemed more urge at the moment.
