wifi sync (yawn)

hello all, my first post on here i think? was just wondering if anybody thats techie minded to give me some help,

basically i cant get wifi sync to work on my pc, ive checked the sync over wifi box, ive got the phone plugged into power source turned off all my firewalls etc tried all the steps that you would usually try and still no joy???? as soon as i unplug my device vamoos it dissapears, please somebody shed some light as this is the best feature apple have added to date i think, thankyou all
