I used the Modern Pages Template to format a Resume and it has a graphic and a large space before beginning the text. That part is fine. Now, for some reason, I have large space appearing on subsequent pages (at the top of the page), under the header, which I can't seem to get rid of. Basically, I'd like the text on subequent pages to begin near the top. Any help would be much appreciated.

In the Modern Resume Template, there's a 1.75" "Before" Layout Margin, in addition to a 1.25" "Top" Document Margin. The "Before" margin won't repeat on the top of the 2nd page, so your margin there should be just 1.25".
Is that what you are getting?

In the View menu choose Show layout. Now you'll see text layer area and header and footer areas.
In the same menu choose Show ruler.
Look at the image. The arrow is pointing to the withfour small dot. Click on them and drag (in your doc 🙂). Drag upwards and the white area will get smaller.

I think I'm almost there, I did the show layout and the show rules and don't see a vertical ruler on the side, only a horizontal ruler. I can change to the "top" margin (it is set at 3 inches) and that moves the space for all pages, I want it only changed for subsequent pages. I'm very close and seriously appreciate the help.

That's right, changing the Before margin in the Layout Inspector will have no effect on the second page. Only changing the document's overall Document Margin in the Document Inspector will have an effect on the second page, and of course will change the starting point of the text on the first page as well. You can compensate for any change on the first page by changing the Layout Margin.

I'm having the same problem, too, with the new pages. The official apple help pages I find are referencing features not in Pages 5.2 (I suspect they are 08 or 09 versions). Any resolution to this? I have tried inserting new sections, but that is not working on the resume templates.

Ok, I enabled the vertical ruler in the preferences and am sure I can figure it out now. Thanks both of you for the help.
It continues to change for all pages. I have 3 inches at the top Document Margin and I only want that for the first page. My Layout Margins are all zero. I apologize for the confusion.
Fixed it, I went back to Kerry's original post now that I understand it better. Thanks again for the help.
