IPad wrong email address. How do I change that?

I inadvertently put the wrong email address in my Ipad when I got it; so it won't let me go up to the cloud, since my Iphone and MAC have a different one and they were all under the right email address. I can't find a way to correct that, does anyone know how to do that? Settings lets me "see" it's wrong, but won't let me correct it. I tried it up online in my account in Icloud but it won't let me change it there either.

Sounds like you have multiple Apple IDs. Go to Settings/Store and toch the Apple ID to sign out and then sign in with the correct one.


To search out the IDs that you do have, go here. Any item obtained with one Apple ID is PERMANENTLY associated with that ID. Note that you can not merge IDs, you can not delete IDs, and you can not transfer purchases from one ID to another.


My suggestion is that you decide which ONE you want to use and then simply ignore the others. The only minor issue is in updating apps that were obtained with the old one. If you update from the computer's iTunes, you will need to log out and back in again to update. It's a tad easier updating from the iPad. There is no requirement to log out/in but you still must enter the correct password. In my case, I changed the passwords so that they're both the same. It's easier for me that way.

The OP is having difficulty with iCloud. Yes, he/she referred to email address but that was only because the email address identified a specific Apple ID (for iCloud use). Honestly, I am not too thrilled with Apple having made it much too easy to inadvertently create multiple IDs. Take that and couple it with the inability to take corrective action when it occurs and it can be a real nuisance for the user.

I'm not 100% sure as I've never done it but I believe that you need to go to Settings/Store. Tap on the ID indicated there, sign out and then sign in with the correct ID. I believe that that change will then reflect up into the iCloud ID. (It might be necessary to power down and back up again.)

No didn't work. :-( I even went up to ICloud account, killed the wrong email address and left the correct live.

Went onto IPad and first deleted the ICloud account; then deleted the settings/store account, then turned off IPad. After that I rebooted it, and it's still doing it. The only place it is wrong is if you go into


Settings/ICloud/Account (which does have my correct email address that I use for all other devices and up in ICloud); then under IClound Account it has all my correct info; but if you look down at the Advanced section, it has Mail: maryscott1@me.com (which is NOT correct); and if I hit that it goes to ICloud Account Information; My Name is correct but under address it still says marymscott1@me.com and it will not allow any access to change that.


I think I'll just wipe it out to factory settings in ITune and then start over maybe the only way it will let me correct it.


Anyway, I really appreciate all your advice on this.
