Do note that if you have AppleCare's protection plan and you're within 50 miles (80 KM) of an Apple repair station, you're eligible for onsite repair since yours is a desktop machine.

I do have this service and my hesitation at taking the machine to an authorized dealership was that the tech said that I could drop the machine off but couldnt tell me how long he might keep it. I didnèt know about onsite repair! Much appreciated. I am working from my old pc at present.
