Memory release

After a while (perhaps after a large file copy, I'm not sure) server memory (8GB) is filled and the server is slowed down.

I have to restart the server to release memory, boring !

someone has an idea?

You shouldn't have to restart, and you shouldn't worry about memory usage. I'm surprised you experience performance issues.

What you should see is that the memory is 'used' since the OS will cache recently accessed files, but as other applications need memory this cached data should expire and be released for other apps to use.

Can you quantify the slowdown you're experiencing, or are you just expecting to see a slowdown since you think the memory is low?
