The image is cutoff on the left side.
If the borders are expanded to display entire image, the right side has empty space.
This happens with mulitple images, all of which are exported Photoshop PNG-24.
Same image resized to 1680 x 1050 via Preview.app is fine. Any thoughts?

Are you using .PNG's for transparency purposes?
Compression.
There are no transparency layers.
The image is a grayscale background and the rest are text layers.
I'll try resaving the file as the same dimesions in preview.app to see if it may be the PNG type photoshop exports.
Strange that another image though exported in the same manner is fine from photoshop.

I ask as saving files as 24 PNG files normally results in quite large file sizes - Do you get the same results using a good quality JPEG ?
I just re-saved the image as pdf (1.1MB), jpg (good 1.2MB), jpg (med 600KB) and png (1.6MB) in preview.app but keeping the same dimensions, yet the same issue occurs.
K - you mention your image size is 1680 x 1050
Can I ask why its that size as the iPad display is 1024 x 768
You can imagine it as a large constellation and tapping specific areas will zoom and pan to expand more details about that star.

Could you not have a base image of 1024 x 768 - and overlay multiple interactive "hot spots" ?

So if I understand correctly, break up the image into perhaps 2x2 (1500x875) interactive images?

I'll probably call Applecare to see if engineering intended this behavior. But at least I have a viable worakaround for now.
Interactive Image not centered if 24-bit PNG dimensions are large, 3000 x 1750.
