Is personal hotspot WIFI secure?
I'm debating adding Personal Hotspot data plan to my ATT account. I'm wondering what level of security is provided for the WIFI tethering.
Thanks!

The hotspot feature relies on Wi-Fi's WPA2 Personal protection, a password is required and must be at least 8 characters long. FYI: any password with letters and numbers longer than nine digits long is considered unbreakable by currently known methods.
do you know if the personal hotspot data by Verizon is as secure?
Actually it has to be at least 12 characters, mix of upper and lower case letters, at least one number and at least one special character, i.e., the shift-number characters, with no embedded dictionary look-up sequences.
I'm guessing Ralph's referring to the "numbers longer than nine digits long is considered unbreakable by currently known methods" comment, not the number of characters required for the password, as referenced in your link.
Not considering what Apple says or what their devices can or cannot handle, what I said is the standard for computer security per NSA. You can make a secure password that is easy to remembe and not dictionary look-up by replacing letters, such as replace h with 4 (inverted h), e with 3 (mirror E), a with @, and so on...will be a strong password by NSA definition and still easy to remember.
By the way, NSA has several documents available such as Best Practices for Keeping Your Home Network Secure and Security Tips for Personally Managed Apple iPhones and iPads, both of which have great tips.
It is as secure as any WiFi...all depends on you using the appropriate level of security such as WPA2...then the ansswer is yes.
