How do I stop iPod 5th gen from syncing Photos, not just music?

It is so long since I used my old iPod that I've forgotten how to select what I want and don't want to be downloaded.

When I synced it, it started downloading over 1000 photos from iPhoto. All I want to do is add an album I purchased from the iTunes store and a new playlist in iTunes. I can't even tell what it's downloading because all I see is a kind of flashing Do Not Enter sign with "Do not disconnect."

How am I supposed to know what it's downloading and when it's finished?

Help!

Mac Mini 1.83ghz, Mac OS X (10.6.8), Great for a while.

You can view the status of what is syncing to your iPod via the toolbar along the top middle of the iTunes window where the scrubber bar usually is.

So you are wanting to stop the iPod from syncing photos, but not music correct?

Thanx for the answer re the toolbar.

Yes, I want only to sync the music, not the photos or contacts. And there may well come a day when I want to sync just the contacts and nothing else.

So basically I'm asking how I can choose what I want to sync and what I don't want to sync.

I would have a look at your iPod's User Guide for assistance on the different syncing preferences you can set up with your iPod and the different content that can be synced to it.
