I found the files in Finder, right clicked, chose "Get Info", and changed the extension from .mp3 to .m4r. The "Kind" now shows Ringtone, Open With is iTunes and Preview shows the iTunes icon with "RING" under it. However, I can't drag and drop into the "Tones" part of the iTunes Library. The tones are under 30 seconds. Is there another way to change the extension?

yo have to open the mp3 file in itunes.. then right click it and choose... "Create ACC version..." then it will create a file with ".m4a" extension... so in finder look for that file and change the extension to ".m4r"... then double click it and it would show up on "TONES", then connect your iphone.. and make sure that "TONES is selected to SYNC all tones..." and hit apply changes.. and you are ready to go 😀

Today I could not get the file to open at all, so I tried another one that I could not get to work this morning. The link is for a F1 engine accelerating (hubby likes racing). Name of the file is F1ACCEL.mp3

I can't get anything that says Create ACC. I got Create AAC. On the first ringtone I tried, I did not get the ".m4a" extension.

Thanks again for all your help.
