I have an iPod Nano 5th Generation which can't support applications. I recently recieved an app. store gift card and I was wondering whether it could be used in the itunes store. If not, then I can return it.

It looks like it worked. I clicked redeem, entered the code, and the amount showed up on iTunes! 🙂
