I bought a used apple ipod classic, it is still in the previous owners name, there is music on it, some i like to keep and some I want to get rid of. It will not let me do this. I want to do it legally as I know there are programs out there that will download the songs I want to itunes. Is there a way I can clear his name and do this the right way?

Renaming the iPod is easy see this Apple support Article.

When you connect the iPod to iTunes, it will prompt you to Restore, which means it wil erase the iPod to blank and setup the iPod as at Factory settings, ie no music and data.
After the Restore it will also prompt you for a new name for the iPod.
