The WIFI network password required the first and last characters to be capitalized and to be of BOLD font. ( I.e. bold, italics, underline). Can this be done on the iPad in the WIFI password field. It can be done in email.

Seriously, I have to stop you there, because this is nonsense. Wifi network passwords do NOT contain formatted characters. They CAN'T! Maybe someone sent you a password in email and accidentally bolded some characters, but believe, me, there's no network password on Earth that uses bold or italic or underlined characters.

Sorry dude, but I am serious. I was handed a sheet with the password on it. It specifically says the capital S and the 0 (first and last characters), must be capitalized and in BOLD FONT. I know it is goofy and over the top ,but that is the facts Jack. My question remains, can this be done on an iPad in the password field for joining WIFI networks? I would show you the sheet if I could, but trust me I am not making this up.
I did...several times to no avail. That's what led me to ask on this forum. I thought there might me some arcane way to do bold font in the password field. Thanks for your input, though. I appreciate the feedback.
Who ever sent you the password probably bolded the capitalized letters to emphazise to you that these letters are capitalized, not that they must be bold. Something like "PassworD". They likely said something like "the bolded letters must be capitalized".
I agree with the other postings. Passwords can not be formatted using bold, italics, colors, etc.
This will be the last comment for me and I appreciate the input from everyone. The facility whose WIFI network I tried to join does in fact require a combination of capitalized characters, alphabetic and numerical characters as well as symbols. AND THEY ALSO REQUIRE CETAIN CHARACTERS TO BE IN BOLD FONT. The instruction sheet I have in front of me says, " Bold letters/# are as follows. Capital S , 0 zero" and on the sheet the S and 0 are in BOLD FONT. So, this does exist in the world of passwords......passwords are in fact formatted using BOLD FONT somewhere on Earth. Add this to the fund of knowledge on passwords. :-)

When I read " Bold letters/# are as follows. Capital S , 0 zero" and on the sheet the S and 0 are in BOLD FONT." it means that the characters indicated in bold, capitol S, 0 zero, and on the sheet the S and 0 are in Bold font means that they are emphasizing to you that S and 0 are indeed Capitol S and zero rather than 5 and O. Not that these characters are bold in the password.
This emphasis is often done because people confuse 5 for capital S and O for 0. The sheet is just emphasizing to use capital S not 5 and zero not O.
But it appears you have made up your mind. Good luck getting your bold characters into your password.

In a nutshell...
You're wrong.
Since our knowledge and experience is 'wrong' then your best bet is to talk to the network IT person and find out from them how to enter the password with bolded characters.
My experience tells me that I can only enter either the codes for bold and italics in a word processing or HTML interface (such as the text editor I'm typing in now).
the only thing I can suggest is to try typing control B or Apple B before the characters. That's the keyboard shortcuts for bold.
I don't think you can even cut and paste into a password box, since they're plain text and it strips the formatting.
What is a bold character? Bold usually is a formatting option not an actual character and has no meaning in a password which is just plain text.
Passwords don't use bold characters, or italic, or any other such formatting options. Do you mean upper case?
Matt
The answer remains no. Tell you what, try it WITHOUT the bold font and see what happens.
Matt
Sorry, it can't be done on an iPad. It can't be done on a Mac. It can't be done in Microsoft Windows.
Try it without bold.
Matthew Smith, Why are you replying to me?
I realised it was the wrong person after I had done it.
